Web site design: there is no such thing as web page design!

Do you know why I just mentioned "web page design"? Simple. If you're talking with a
"professional web designer" and he's telling you that he can "design you a web page" - cheap, of course, - get the heck out of there. It's a first criterion shouting to you out loudly that you're talking to the newbie. In current world, there is no such thing as a "web page design".

There is a "template web site design" and there is a "custom web site design", but there is no "web page design". In a lame terms, website is the set of properly inter-linked webpages with the same design and structure. And while "template design" can be treated as a synonym for a "webpage design", the difference is that the same template is used for all web pages of a web site, not just for one page.

Have you tried to find one-page "websites" highly ranked by search engines? Don't bother. You won't find them. Only real websites with at least 4-5 pages (and usually much more than that)can be found on the first positions. One of the reasons - search engines are looking for quality, content-rich sites.

IRS refunds your federal and state taxes, or does it? New "Tax Refund" Internet Scam

You file your federal or state taxes pertaining to your income and primary property, plus other real estate taxes. You did this either online or offline. Finally, one of the biggest headaches of the year is over. You're happy and going to return to your normal life.

A few days pass by, and you receive the email from "IRS" notifying you that you're entitled to a tax refund. All you have to do is just submit a tax refund request by clicking on a link which is conveniently provided for you in this email.

Simple, isn't it? There is one catch though. This letter is not sent by IRS. And if you click on the link in such email, you'll be transferred to the site that mirrors irs website design, but it's actually set up by fraudsters. And on this page you're required to provide your crucial personal information, such as your SSN, your account number, driving license, etc. If you provide all this data, then you most likely will become the victim of identity theft.

Here is what official IRS web site says about this tax refund fraud:
"A bogus IRS letter and Form W-8BEN (Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for United States Tax Withholding) asked non-residents to provide personal information such as account numbers, PINs, mother’s maiden name and passport number."

Of course, "click here" is not anchored in my post, but it was linked to the fraudulent website, and it has nothing to do with IRS.

So be careful, even if it appears that you received the correspondence from IRS or another government organization.

If you have any suspicion, just call the real number of the appropriate government
organization, or contact them through the contact form or email provided on their official web site and never disclose crucial information on the form you see after clicking on such link.
Better yet, do not click such links at all.

I know, you're asking "If everyone has access to this information, how it can be unique?"
Let's talk about books for example. You can edit the original book, you can use your own
cover and introduction - and voila - you already have a unique product!

Unfortunately, it's not so easy to find really useful pieces, and then convert them in the
readable product. And don't forget that you need to create a website if you want to sell it, then write a sales copy... That'll take a lot of your time and money.

Keywords Evolution: Mesothelioma and Brrreeeport?

At first glance those 2 keywords - mesothelioma and brrreeeport - has absolutely nothing in common. After all, first one is a medical term and second one...Well, you won't even find "brrreeeport" in the dictionary.

However there is a common principle that makes those 2 keywords similar and this principle is keyword popularity.

If you ask any SEO guy, he will tell you that "mesothelioma lawyer" is one of the most expensive keywords. This happens simply because mesothelioma lawyers earn very nice income representing asbestos victims with mesothelioma cancer, so they're willing to bid very high on this keyword.

Now let's look at the current Google search results for brrreeeport - we see 218,000 results.

This is very impressive considering that this keyword is only a few day old. I'm not sure how long this will continue to be a buzz word, and if it will reach the huge competition we see for the mesothelioma keyword (don't forget that mesothelioma was under radar for about 2-3 years, so "brrreeeport" potentially can also grow this big in a time).

One thing is for sure. Robbert Scoble can be proud of his virtual baby.

Brrreeeport - Scoble's Keyword Experiment and the new Buzz word

So what exactly is this brrreeeport? It's a new experiment on keyword relevancy suggested by controversial Microsoft's employee blogger, Robbert Scoble.

There is a theory that A-list bloggers only links to each other, thus preventing less-influencial bloggers to ever get a chance to rank high for highly competitive keywords. Robert "invented" this word, brrreeeport and invited less-known bloggers to post it on their blogs in order to track the results and at the same time to help them finally get good ranking.

And in a matter of days this word, brrreeeport, was not only listed on Technorati's blog listing, it's actually became one of the Technorati's most searched keywords. And we witnessed the birth of the new buzz word.

It's now listed on all major search engines, on Google and Yahoo! we can even see pay per click advertisement for this keyword.

Somebody registered brrreeeport domain already. I'm sure he'll do pretty well with it.

It's funny to see how new tendencies are born on the Net each day out of thin air...
