is Google Losing its Power to Social Networks?
Though Google and Yahoo! are still the main players in the organic traffic game, they've been slowly but steadily replaced by the constantly growing social networks. And this is understandable. Yes, search engines do try to do their best to provide high quality and relevant search results to their users, but it's still machine judgement in most cases. and there are thousands of SEO experts who tries to play the system and find the new flaw in the search engines' algorithms that could be exploited.
In social networks on the other hand results are provided by real people. of course spamming element can not be 100% excluded there either, but the positioning of search results is done based on the number of votes. So if somebody would try to play the system there is a good chance that they will be banned from the site.
And the numbers of users of such sites is growing every day. You've heard about myspace.com, right? But there are other sites that increase their popularity by the minute.
Sumbleupon.com for example has already over 4 million users...
You do the math.
