The Difference between the "link" and "one-way non reciprocal descriptive link to high pr authority sites", in terms of your link popularity (Part1)

Incoming links to your web site? Yes, by now it's became an axiom that your
web site absolutely has to have incoming links. But that's not actually what
you must have. You must have incoming one-way non-reciprocal descriptive links
from high pr authority sites, not just any links.

Let me explain in details the difference between those 2 "links". Incoming
link - that means the link must point to your website, not the other way
around. It may sound funny, but there is an opinion among the internet
marketing newbies that you can get higher position in search engine's search
result pages by just simply pointing to high pr sites (pointing means in this
case creating links from their sites to authority websites).

This misunderstanding derives from the fact that it's desirable to have on
your website some content from the websites that show up on 10 top positions
in search results for your targeted keyword.

The content from those sites has been already rated as high quality relevant
content for this particular keyword, otherwise those sites won't be ranked so
high in search engines, so it may be a good idea to include some excerptions
from those sites on your web site.

But you can't just take the part of somebody's work and paste it on your site
without acknowledging the owner of the content. You will be violating his/her
copyrights. If you're posting the excerpts from their content on your own
site, you have to at least include the link to their website, thus giving them
the credit for the time and efforts they spent on creating the content you're
quoting.

Usually it's Ok with other webmasters if you quote one or 2 lines of their
content if you give them the link back to their sites for this. But this is
not the rule, every web site has it's own TOS and other policies, so you
should check them first, before borrowing any content from the web site in
question.

This is how the idea of getting some additional weight by pointing to other
high quality pr sites was born.

It doesn't mean that you can get ranked higher by simply pointing to authority
sites though. You can get ranked higher if you get some content from them, and
for that you have to give them credit in form of links back to their sites.

Even when you're using this technique right, you have to be careful and don't
over-do it. Remember that each outgoing link from your site drains your pr. So
if you don't want your site's pr to bleed heavily, you better limit those
excerpts followed by required outgoing links.

To really increase your PR you need to have incoming links from high pr sites. When high pr sites link to you, they share with you their pr (by the way, the
higher the pr and the less links are included on that particular page, the
bigger the "share" of the pr you receive as a result.

Each such link grow your site's pr, and when you accumulate substantial amount
of such links - all of a sudden your own site has high PR!
