There is one internet marketing technique that is often recommended by Big Name marketers. It can substantially increase your sales/closing ratio, but nevertheless you shouldn't use it at all. Because it may hurt you more than it will help you.

I'm talking about using your own signature on the sales page. Sure, it will make your sales page more personal, sure people will trust you more, and this may increase your sales. So from marketing point of view this is great.

But this is only one side of the coin.

Let's now look at this technique from the angle of your personal security. I'm not going to go into details here, because I have absolutely no intention to provide any ideas to the potential fraudsters, but your personal signature is one of the key elements required for the successful check-washing operations, the form of identity theft. If you think this is only theoretical threat, think again. According to Money Magazine, over $815 million is lost annually to check washing by Americans only.

You can safely multiply this number at least few times to imagine the world-wide damage from such operations. As you see now, using your signature to personalize your newsletter can lead to much greater loss than you could ever re-coup with a benefit of a "increased closing ratio"...
